Questions? Let’s answer them!
How Much Does It Cost?
A custom paint job is a very time-consuming and delicate process. Many hours of manual paint removal and preparation is required to obtain quality finishes. Visit our Pricing page for full pricing details. Here’s a quick description though: Full frames can be custom painted for as low as $675 and as high as $2000. Forks can be painted for as low as $200 and as high as $350. An example paint job is the Zerode Taniwha frame shown below which cost $1000 to paint.
Is Your Paint Safe For Carbon Bicycle Frames?
Yes, our paint is compatible with carbon composite materials. As a matter of fact, the primary means for protecting carbon composites is with paint. Paint helps keep the carbon layup safe from scratching and damaging UV exposure.
What Is Your Turnaround Time?
Turnaround time depends highly on the level of detail in the paint job and the type of frame/part to be painted (ie. road bike, dual suspension mountain bike, suspension fork, road fork). To reduce stress on both of us, let’s just say that custom paint jobs are completed in less than three weeks from the time that we get your bike. Then, we gingerly package and ship your bike out. Let’s just add another week for that. All in all, you can expect your bike back in 3-4 weeks.
What Parts Can You Paint?
We can paint pretty much any part that you can imagine. We have painted forks, cranks, frames, and materials ranging from aluminum and steel to carbon fiber.
What Parts Can You Not Paint?
We do not paint cassettes, hubs, spokes, and small parts such as bolts, lock rings, axles, and spacers. We also do not paint parts that have high friction areas, such as axles, because they tend to stick and damage the finish.
What If I Damage The Paint?
We make sure that your bike is properly painted to create strong bonds and protective layer. In the event that poor workmanship is cause to paint damage, the damaged area will be re-finished free of charge. Damage due to normal wear and tear can be repaired (or touched up) at 50% of the original quote. If the damage is small, however, we can work something out.
Can You Perform The Full Design For Me?
Of course, we can perform the full design for you. We will just need your favorite bike colors and the model of your bike. We will communicate our designs with you so that you can have a stress-free custom painting experience.
What Can I Do To Protect My New Custom Paint Job
We recommend that you protect your frame with some frame protection material, especially in areas of abuse (ie. chain stays, bottom bracket, crank arms). We offer the option of equipping your bicycle with custom frame protection that is self-healing, transparent and durable. This is the best way to protect what you paid for.
how do i know what colors are available?
Pretty much any color is available for your design. There are a few options that you can use to choose colors. Our favorite color palette tool is the Canva color palette generator. Other great color palette tools are the Color Hunt and the Coolors color palette tools. These color palette tools are a great place to get color palette ideas. Another option is to head to Home Depot or Lowes and grab some paint chips that you like. We can match any of these colors. All we need is the paint code on the paint chip so we know what to match.
Here’s how your bike is painted.
We begin by working with you to nail down a design. Once we settle on a design, we strip all of the paint, prep the surfaces, and lay on fresh new paint. Lastly, we perform any finishing work to ensure top quality finishes.
